Lara graduated in veterinary science from Sydney University in 2006. After graduation, she worked in general practice for 2 years, and then completed a 1-year internship at a specialist referral hospital in Sydney. Lara gained memberships in small animal medicine and continued in emergency, critical care and anaesthesia for another 5 years. She moved to the USA in 2016 for a residency program in small animal clinical nutrition at the University of California, in Davis. She is now a boarded veterinary nutritionist in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Since 2019 she has been working at Royal Canin headquarters.
